Glad you're here!

I'm Katie - mama, wife, author, speaker, and founder of Amazima Ministries in Uganda. I pray you find great encouragement and community here.

WELCOME

Hi there, I’m Katie – wife to my best friend, mama to my 15 favorite humans. I love Jesus and I love sharing what He is teaching me in the mundane minutes of ordinary life. My family and I live in Uganda and invest our lives in discipling the people God puts in our paths. I get to be the founder of an amazing Ministry called Amazima and an author of some books that have done pretty well as far as the New York Times is concerned, but on the average day, I am just a mom, a wife, a daughter and a friend, doing my best to press into Jesus and praying to become more like Him in the chopping of vegetables and the teaching of spelling words and the ministry of doing life with people.

I’m glad you’re here. God teaches me through words – His Word, the words of others, and the words He lays upon my heart. I pray you will find great encouragement in this space to seek Him and trust Him above all.

My Story

Learn More

In December of 2006, 18-year-old Katie traveled to Uganda for the first time. She was immediately captivated by the people and the culture, and knew she would be back. Less than a year later, Katie returned to Uganda and it has been her home ever since.

Despite her own plans, God led Katie to found Amazima Ministries in 2008. The word “Amazima” means “truth” in the native Luganda language and speaks to Katie’s desire to see lives transformed, relationships restored, and communities changed through the truth of Jesus Christ.

While Amazima has lived out its mission through a variety of different programs and outreaches over the years, the mission has always been to make disciples of Jesus through authentic relationships, excellent education, and strengthened communities.

Sometimes the things we would never pick for our lives gives us opportunities to receive God's provision, to see Him working in ways we otherwise might not experience.
