A place for biblical encouragement and other resources
I pray will help you grow as a disciple of Jesus.

For years, I have prayed Isaiah 61 over my family, asking the Lord to give beauty for ashes, asking Him to indeed grow these daughters of mine into oaks of righteousness, a planting for the display of His splendor. I have cried tears straight into the words “freedom for captives” as I begged this promise for a certain few of my little ladies specifically. I have rested in the promise of the oil of joy instead of mourning and I have rejoiced with the prophet Isaiah as each one has come to her own understanding that He has clothed her with garments of salvation and a robe of righteousness. My eyes stuck right there on Isaiah 61 praying in hope those words of verse 11, that the Lord would cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all nations.
Only on Saturday morning, the morning after I married the very most Christ-like man I have ever met, did my eyes wander down past verse 11, down the page to Isaiah, Chapter 62. As if, now that I was beginning this new chapter of life, maybe God would give me a new chapter to pray over my family. My breath caught in my throat as I read these words that I somehow had never read before.
“The nations will see your vindication, and all kings your glory. You will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow. You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God. No longer will they call you Deserted, or your name Desolate. But you will be called Hephzibah (my delight is in her) and your land will be Beulah (married). For the Lord will take delight in you and your land will be married. As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.”
Right there on the thin, gilded page, was his heart for me, for Benji, for each of my girls, for our family – that we would know His delight in us, the way He rejoices over us.
The last two years have been a different season. A season of quiet, of dark and sadness, of joys that felt too personal to share with anyone other than my Heavenly Father. I have tried to write many times, but I have been learning the beauty of the secret place, just Him and me. The Lord who knows my heart has been whispering to me of a new season for a long time, and my flesh has worried that this new season might take me out of my secret hiding place with Him, that somehow a physical, tangible relationship with another might take away from my relationship with my Builder, My Lover, My Life-Giver.
Little did I know that this new relationship would only enhance the other.
I became Mrs. Majors on January 2nd of this year. Benji is a discipler of men and a faithful maker of breakfast. Long before we shared a home we shared a hometown with only a few hilltops to keep our adolescent lives from ever intersecting.  As the Lord would have it, we would only meet on the other side of an ocean after He had captured our hearts with a love for the Ugandan people and a desire for The Word to go forth in this place. At first I was hesitant, but while Benji was patient, God was faithfully working on my heart. I watched him teach Bible studies and disciple men and fix my kids’ bikes. We laughed over coffee and all the crazy things that are life here. He taught me more and more about the love of Jesus, in his words, and in his example. He captured my heart. And on the night he washed my feet and asked me to be his forever, the yes jumped off my lips as if it had always been waiting there just for him.
I imagined marriage would be good. Wonderful even. But I did not even begin to understand that it would be this holy. I didn’t know that I would melt under this man’s gaze that is so full of the love of the Father for me. I didn’t imagine the way his delight in me would be my daily reminder of the way my Father delights in me. My husband’s love is just another way God has chosen to pour our His extravagant love on me, another constant reminder that He rejoices over me, and over each one of our daughters.
I watch them come alive under the loving gaze of their new father, I hear the delight and the certainty in their voices as they call “Dad.” And without me even having to ask, God who knows my heart has given me my new prayer over them: that in knowing the delight of their earthly father, they would begin to grasp the delight of their Heavenly Father all the more. That they would be a crown of splendor in His hand, that they would embrace this new name: “my delight is in her.”

God gives good gifts. His delight is in me, in us, in them. May our delight be evermore in Him.

You are such an inspiration to me. Ughhh as I am sitting here reading I am just crying. I learned the meaning on Hephzibah just yesterday and it is so crazy that I am reading it today. I am so happy that you got married. I read your book last year and It gave such an impact on my life. Ever since I read it, I don't know why, but I prayed for God to send you companionship in husband. I, being such a needy person towards my own husband, kept thinking throughout the books entirety, how incredibly strong Katie must be to have accomplished this without an earthly love to reflect with at the end of each day. I wanted for you what I (almost) counldn't live without. I can't wait for a sequel to your book. Much love and Prayer. Thank God for answered prayers.

Our God is just waiting for those who are willing and available to say “Yes, Lord.”, “No matter what, Yes Lord.” There is no fear in His perfect love. Thank you for being brave enough and obedient enough to say “Yes, Lord.” Thank you for being a beautiful example of what it looks like to be the hands and feet of Jesus….for showing me what it looks like to enter a dark, scary, place.. and then for Jesus to show up…for His light to make ALL the difference…to see beauty for ashes. Praying God's greatest on your family as you continue to seek first the kingdom of God.

Hi Katie, you don't know me, but I wanted to tell you what an answer to prayer this is for me. When I read your book years ago, I thought about how good it would be for you to have a husband to share this ministry. I had many of the same concerns (like no longer loving Jesus fully because your time is divided. Totally I Cor. 7!) when I wed 15+ years ago. But I've also learned how God shows His love and support through a Godly husband. I also knew for you, it'd have to be a very specific type of man, one who loved God greatly and Uganda. It's been years since I've prayed for that for you, but it's so encouraging to see God give you such a man. And for your girls to have a father in their lives! What a blessing! Thank you for sharing! Much love, Angie in San Antonio TX USA

  202. Rhonda says:

Now we are living here and love working with these dear people that you first introduced to me. Thank you Katie. God's blessings on your marriage, and ministry.

You have inspired me. From the time I was a lonely soldier in the Barnes and Noble bookstore of the town I live in called Loveland, Colorado. Searching, searching for something different, housed in that big box store full of even smaller, more personal, intimate reading digests. But being the avid reader that I have always been, I walked around searching for something thicker and deeper to quench my thirst when I happened and stumbled upon the new release shelf and sitting down was the hardback cover of your book with your girls, and the colors, and the smiles, oh yes, I found what I was looking for. And then I went home and digested and devoured it all up and got on board with Facebook, the blog, etc etc, I have even ordered a bracelet, a spiral one with lots of red and green colors that I have accidentally lost, but I am reinspired again by all of the beautiful beauty of the magical colors of the rainbow in the new earrings that I want to save for. You see, my name is Amber Tilton and I am 37 years old and I am a single mother of a 12 year old girl, Aislinn, which means a vision of beauty or a dream. And so I think everything that I am doing or have done has led me to this one moment and whilst wanting to be discouraged a few weeks ago about the news on Facebook that you had been married, I myself found myself, hurt, jealous, a bit angry and sad. Not because of you but because of me. I read this blog just now and yes, yes again you have inspired me and I thank you. A beautiful life story you own. Thanks be to God. Mine too is comin around the mountain when he comes, I'm really scared, and really excited, its everything I think I want and everything, too, I don't know yet. I Love you. Keep going Katie. 🙂

Ohmygoodness! This is exactly what I needed to hear today. This happy ending or beginning, whichever way you tend to look at it, has made my day richer. I have only recently found your blog and your book, which I am still reading but have quickly been fascinated with your life and how God has used you. I was complaining just yesterday how you haven't posted in awhile. To a high school senior, your life sounds amazing and like you truly live with meaning and are a steward of God which is my deepest desire for my life. When looking at your blog as I have been doing for the past few weeks at lunch, to my friends enjoyment I barely contained my excitement, as I noticed that you posted a new one. I want to take a gap year after I graduate from high school in May and do a mission trip, much like you did. My story is different but many points are the same. My plans are pretty much at a standstill at this point since the organization I am going through have no openings and it's frustrating. I have gotten so much out of your story and it gives me hope (and patience) for my future and whatever God's plans are for me. Thank you so much for being such a great role model for me!

Katie, this is so incredible! How wonderful to have a God-given companion to love alongside you and your girls.

Katie, I can't express the way God has used you and your story in my life. I long to follow Him to the inth degree… but I'm scared. I hope you'll find time to respond, but could you help me through advice? At what point did you know God had called you to Uganda? I'm in college and part of me longs to give everything away and give my entire being to Christ, but then I don't know if that's the wisest thing to do… I don't even have a particular place I'm feeling led. If there is any advice you have for me, please tell me. I do so want to follow in Christ's steps, but I lack the courage and confidence to know if He's telling me to drop everything right now.

Thank you so much, Katie. You've given me a model of what following Christ looks like, and for that I'll always be grateful. To God be the glory.

  263. May God bless you and Benji and you girls and your entire community with His greatest intentions, may God greatest desires be fulfilled in and through your lives. Thank you so much for being faithful to the call our Lord a Jesus has on you. It is an example to our family.

  264. Katie,
Thank you so much for sharing! I am touched by your blog for a number of reasons… What you wrote about your husband and the way he looks at you made my heart ache for my husband. We were married for only 3 1/2 years and he went to Heaven to be with Jesus a year ago, but he had a gaze for me that could melt my heart, as you said, and I miss that so much. That's a beautiful gift. Enjoy it. The Isaiah 61 verses you pray for your girls are some verses that God led me to after my husband's death and I pray them often too. I will be going to Masese in June with H.E.L.P. Uganda and hope to help in an orphanage while I'm there. God has had orphans on my heart for at least ten years and I am excited to go and see what He has for me as I walk out this new life. Thank you again for sharing!

Congratulations and God's blessings Katie. I gave my 15yo daughter Lydia your book/devotional 3 years ago, shortly after she lost her earthly father. I was a widow at age 49 with 3 teenagers, two boys in wheelchairs with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. God was so gracious to bring a godly man into my life. He was volunteering at a Joni Family Retreat and I was there with my 3 kiddos. We are now married and I am so grateful. Lydia and I will be coming to Uganda on a Wheels for the World Missions trip to bring wheelchairs. We will be partnering with Father's Heart Mobility Ministry. May God use us there and change us forever. God Bless your holy union with Benji and your precious family!

  302. Hi Katie, I was so surprised and overjoyed to read on your blog of your marriage to Benji! I started crying because I was just so happy for you both. God is so good! Your book has inspired me so much-it is Jesus working in you and how you allow Him to do so that just blows me away and makes me want that same relationship-though as you said, the joys also come with sufferings/loss as you open your heart to others. Your story points people to Jesus, not to yourself, and I love that. Benji is a blessed man! And you are a blessed wife, because he must be pretty awesome to have snagged you for his bride! God bless you both and your huge beautiful family, and Amazima and the people you serve. -Heidi (a sister in Christ, though we've never met. See you in heaven one day!)

Oh my goodness. First of all, I've been following your blog for several years now, so impressed and amazed at how you've followed the Lord's calling on your life and how well you love others. I felt like I knew you (even though I don't) since we share a hometown and probably several friends and connections because of that. My mom sent me a link a while back that you got married and I thought, “That's awesome! he must be an amazing man of God.” And then today I read this and I got chills when I read the name Benji and my eyes scrolled down and I saw the last name — Majors. God is amazing. I've known Benji since he was in jr high and I was a few years older in college. I was one of his youth leaders and he was always one of my favorites. A servant even as a teenager, a love for other and with an amazing sense of humor as well. SO SO COOL! I love that you are now a couple. I love seeing how God brings people together who fit so well and can further His kingdom with His gifts and talents. Please give your new hubby a hug and tell his that Alexis (Goodman) Ward says hello. 🙂

  316. Congratulations on your marriage!
I hope to write shortly, but I just wanted you to know that you are a blessing to me. Your marriage, also, came as a relief to me too. I've been reading your book and just completed it today, although I've had it for almost a year. I put off reading because I cried every time I turned the pages. There's so much your book has taught me about Jesus, and especially because God has called me to be a missionary in the Philippines in the future, although I want to go now :D. I have only visited an orphanage there once, but I hope to go back when God says it's time. The reason your marriage was a relief to me is because I thought you would end up single, and in ways, I thought I would too. I am 19 and have never had a bf. I've waited and waited for God to send The One, but it has not been time yet. In your book when I read that God has asked you to break up with your bf, I was honestly devastated. How can I expect to have a future husband one day when someone like Katie doesn't. But oh does God love to bring surprises. I'm so happy for your marriage, and I hope to marry someone one day that shows me deeper the love of the Father, so I can show love to others as well. I hope all of your kids are doing well! Btw I loved at the end of book about the interview, and the interviewer asked what you did during droughts. Your answer was perfect… there are no droughts when we drink from the well that never runs dries. Such a great statement and reminder of Jesus who gives us life and love daily. God bless!

  331. Hi Katie, I wanted to let you know that about 50 women from my church just read your book together for a small group study. We met last night and we are all so challenged. Thank you for writing, “Kisses from Katie.” I searched out your blog to see if you ever got married and I see you did! When I shared this with the ladies they squealed with delight! I would love another book written by you to hear how your ministry exploded and how more lives are being changed! We are all challenged to walk in greater intimacy and obedience with the Lord. Thank you for sharing your life.

I just finished your book last night and had been praying that you would have a helpmate over the last few weeks, not knowing this great news from earlier in the year! He hears our prayers outside of time and space. He is our Eternal Father. I am awaiting my helpmate and I am so ecouraged by the faithfulness of our Father both here and in His Kingdom to come-constantly being reminded that my great Helpmate has already come.

  337. How fun to “stumble” on this post of yours on the very day that my husband and I are celebrating our “26th Anniversary of Meeting.” He had to ask me to marry him 3 times before I said yes (even though I KNEW he was the man God had for me) and we had a long, two-year engagement before we officially said “I do.” Reading your post today has brought such a sweet smile to my face and reminded me of things I needed to remember. Thank you for your words and the life you and your family live as one in Him!

So late to read this – September now. The Lord's mercies are (indeed) new every morning. His gifts are always perfect – in time and substance. Just thrilled for you!

Katie…I just finished reading “Kisses from Katie” and have been so inspired and touched by your book. I came to the website and saw that God had brought a special young man into your heart and life. I CAN'T WAIT to see what God has in store for you both and wish you all of God's blessing as you minister in Uganda. Thank you for opening up your life to the world. I am a Children's Director and recently had 2 of my 6th grade girls express that they feel God wants them to be missionaries. So I purchased 2 of your books for them to read. I know they will be educated as well as inspired by your book.

Hi, congratulation Katie! I've read your book;KISSES FROM KATIE
It was quite impressive and very radical.
I mean, you are really the person who do God's work.
I read your book with glory.
God bless you and congratulation your wedding.
I think your fiance looks the person who do the same work you are doing in Uganda.
    Take care!

  341. Margie says:

Congratulations! May God's blessings shower down upon you and give you joy and peace both on this earth and in the world to come.

Katie- I read your book several years ago and was inspired by your story. You and I are near the same so it was just amazing to read about someone so young so passionate for Christ. For some reason, after reading your book I felt very strongly that I was to pray the Lord would bring you a husband. To be honest, I haven't read your blog or kept up with your doing's since that time, though occasionally I would still pray. Today is the first time I have visited your site since I read your book, and what wonderful news, you are married! I will not take sole credit for that 🙂 but how wonderful is the body of Christ that Jesus can move the hearts of His people to move to Africa or pray for someone they have never met. I wish you a long and blessed life together!
